Shri. V.D. Satheesan Chief Minister of Kerala

Shri. V.D. Satheesan has been elected in the 16th Kerala Legislative Assembly elections held on 6th April 2026 from Paravur constituency with a margin of 20,600 votes. He is a member of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and the executive committee of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). Earlier, he had served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Legislative Assembly from 2021 to 2026. He also served as the Chief Whip of the Congress Legislature Party and as the Chairman of the prestigious Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and the Committee on Estimates. During his stint as an influential legislator and Leader of the Opposition, the state witnessed his sharp parliamentary interventions, articulate debates, and active leadership in environmental and social issues. Satheesan, son of K. Damodara Menon and V. Vilasini Amma, was born on 31st May 1964 in Nettoor in Ernakulam district. After school education at Nettoor and Panangad, he joined for his Bachelor’s degree in Sociology at the Sacred Heart College, Thevara. Subsequently, he completed his Post Graduate Diploma in social work from Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, Kalamassery, followed by an LLB from Kerala Law Academy Law College and an LLM from Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram.He was elected to the Kerala Assembly continuously for six consecutive terms from the Paravur constituency in 2001, 2006, 2011, 2016, 2021, and 2026. He is married to R. Lakshmi Priya and has a daughter named Unnimaya.
