Kottayam is renowned for being the centre of Kerala’s spice, rather than for its aesthetic appeal. All sorts of spices are developed in Kottayam including pepper, chilli, turmeric and cardamom. Kerala is viewed as the fundamental center point of spice trade in India and a large portion of the spices in Kerala are manufactured in Kottayam. There are many spice manors in Kottayam, which produce extensive amounts of spices that are exported.
